How to juggle working, school, and a healthy social life.

Being a full-time student comes with a heavy workload and sometimes it may seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day. One could only imagine what it’s like to have to manage being a student on top of having a job, and still maintaining a social life. It’s pretty difficult, but not impossible, so here are a few tips to help you juggle it all.

Time management is probably the most important thing when it comes to a busy schedule. When you have to study, go to work, and just deal with life in general, it’s important to use the hours that you are given effectively. Having an organized plan for each day with distinct time frames for each task can help with optimizing your time and making the day run a little smoother.

Another very important thing to do is to prioritize. Some tasks weigh more in importance to others on certain days or during different months. As much as one would like to hang out with their friends, many would agree that making an A on an assignment or going in to work is more important. So take some time, sit down and make a list of everything that needs to be done for the week and rank them in order of importance. This will ensure that you are able to get the most important activities done towards the beginning of the week and you won’t feel burdened with your to-do list.

Everyone needs a break from the stress of a busy schedule, and hanging out with family and friends will certainly do the mind well. For some, going out with friends isn’t high on their priority list, but this is something that can actually help with juggling everything that life throws at you. If you are someone who feels that they don’t have enough time to go out, we encourage you to at least take one day every two weeks or so for yourself. Something you can also do in the midst of a busy schedule, is arrange an hour or two for lunch with some friends. You have to eat anyway so instead of eating in the library or break room alone take time to feed your social life.
